Two students killed in freak accident

AMBALA - Two students of a private school here were killed and three others injured Saturday afternoon when a pillar of the institution’s cycle stand collapsed and fell on them, police said.

Neha, a Class 11 student, and Seema, a Class 9 student, were killed at the cycle stand of Jain Kanya Senior Secondary School.

The students were standing near the cycle stand when one of its pillar suddenly collapsed. It was an old pillar and had many cracks but school management did not repair it in time,” said a police official.

The district administration has ordered registration of a case against the school management.

We have directed the police to register an FIR (first information report) against the management of the school, said Ambala Deputy Commissioner Sameer Pal Srow.

Financial assistance of Rs.100,000, from the Red Cross society, has been given to the next of kin of each of the two deceased girl students. Besides, Rs.10,000 each will be given to the three injured students,” he said.
