Woman, paramour held for husband’s murder

NEW DELHI - Delhi Police have arrested a 28-year-old woman along with her paramour on charges of murdering her husband.

According to an official, Reshma alias Pinki and her lover Nasir were arrested Friday in east Delhi for the Jan 13 murder of Reshmas husband Rakesh, resident of Block-3 at Trilokpuri in Kalyanpuri area.

The role of Nasirs wife Roshani and his friend Salem in the murder is also being investigated, he said.

According to information, Rakesh and Nasir, resident of Mayur Vihar, were friends and over a time Nasir began an affair with Rakeshs wife Reshma.

On the night of Jan 13, Nasir invited Rakesh and Reshma for dinner at his house and allegedly strangled him after a bout of heavy drinking. The body was thrown into the Yamuna river near Kondli, the official said.

“Reshma gave us a complaint Jan 15 about her husband having gone missing. The mobile details of Reshma and Nasir showed frequent interaction before and after Rakesh’s disappearance. They confessed to the crime after sustained interrogation,” said a police official.

Rakesh’s body was recovered from the river Jan 16 and the autopsy report showed that he was poisoned before strangulation, the official said.

“We are also investigating whether Nasir’s wife Roshani and another friend Salem, who was present at the dinner that night, were also involved,” he added.
