Bangalore woman techie’s killer nabbed

BANGALORE - A man has been arrested for allegedly killing Dell call centre employee Payal Surekha here last week, police said Saturday. He confessed to killing the techie to take revenge for losing his job at her husband’s gym in Cuttack.
Choudhary James Kumar Roy, 28, was remanded to custody till Jan 5 for interrogation.
“The accused was trapped Dec 22 at Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh by our team and brought to the city after he confessed to have stabbed Surekha to death in a revenge killing for losing his job as gym instructor at Cuttack,” Bangalore police commissioner Shankar Bidari told reporters here.
Surekha was Dec 17 found murdered in her flat by the landlord after her husband Ananth Narain Mishra did not get any response from her mobile when he was at Cuttack in Orissa on the day of the incident.
“During the preliminary interrogation, Roy told us that he came to Bangalore last week and left for Hyderabad by bus after committing the crime,” Bidari said.
“We have recovered a knife from him that was used in committing the crime and his blood-stained dress he wore Dec 17 from a nearby lake,” he added.
Roy was arrested for murder and presented before a local magistrate for police custody till Jan 5 for interrogation.
Bangalore south Deputy Commissioner of Police Sonia Narang told IANS: “The motive behind the murder was to take revenge for losing job at her husband’s gym in Cuttack early this year. Roy suspected that Mishra sacked him at the instigation of his wife (Surekha).”
After marriage, Mishra shifted to Bangalore and was working at a local gym in an upscale J.P. Nagar suburb.
