NEW DELHI - After raiding Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi’s homes, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Friday called his aide Shekhar for questioning.

Shekhar was seen going into the CBI headquarters here Friday evening.

The CBI Friday raided Kalmadi’s homes in New Delhi and Pune and his brother’s home in Mumbai as part of a sweeping probe into financial wrongdoing in Games organising that has led to the arrest of three of his colleagues. They also searched the Games Organising Committee office in New Delhi.

The raids began at 7 a.m. in the three cities.

The CBI is probing alleged irregularities in the Organising Committee’s contract of Rs.107 crore on overlays.

The charges against Kalmadi include overspending — by crores of rupees. Kalmadi has said in his defence that much of the equipment were bought by the Organising Committee late due to lack of storage space and because the Games venues were not ready for installation.
