Victim of Aspen Grove Car Crash Identified

ASPEN GROVE (GaeaTimes.com) — The victim of a fatal single vehicle collision near Aspen Grove has been identified.

Shelly May Unrau, 51, of Vernon died from her injuries after she attempted to pass a van on Highway 97C near the junction with Highway 5A last Friday afternoon.

An investigation revealed Unrau lost control of her car while attempting to pass, crossed in front of the van and collided with a lamp post or sign post.

At the time of the collision, the slow lane was bare and dry while the fast lane was a combination of compressed snow and ice covered in gravel.

In this context, RCMP want to remind motorists to slow down and drive to the conditions of the road and plan for extra time to get to your destination safely.
