Eight killed in Jharkhand road accident

RANCHI - Eight people were killed and more than 20 injured when the bus they were travelling in rolled down a hillside in Jharkhands Garwah district Thursday, police said.

The bus, carrying around 50 people, was going to Aurangabad, in Bihar, from Ambikapur, in Chhattisgarh. While passing through Garwah in Jharkhand, the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled down the hillside in Aamzara valley of the district, around 140 km from Ranchi, police said.

Eight people died on the spot. The injured have been admitted to a local hospital in Garwah. Seven critically injured have been referred to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Ranchi, for treatment.

According to the passengers, the driver was drunk and he lost control on the sharp bends in the hill road.
