Mob burns police van in Delhi, two cops injured

NEW DELHI - Two police officers were injured and their Police Control Room (PCR) van burnt by a mob in outer Delhi, police said Thursday.

The incident took place Wednesday night in Shahbad Dairy area where two groups had a heated argument during a function in a house.

When the policemen intervened, the groups pelted stones at them, Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma told IANS.

Two of the four policemen sustained injuries. The attackers fled the scene before another police team could reach the spot, said Sharma.

We have identified some of the attackers and cases of rioting, damaging public property and preventing a public servant from discharging his duty have been registered. They will be arrested soon, she added.
