A jail where families live with inmates

BHOPAL - India’s first open jail, where prisoners can live with their families, has opened in Madhya Pradesh.

In a new experiment, Madhya Pradesh Jail and Transport Minister Jagdish Devda Monday inaugurated the colony built at a cost of Rs.326.34 lakh on 17 acres in Hoshanganbad district.

The complex will be the residence of 25 prisoners brought from Jabalpur, Ujjain, Rewa, Saagar, Satna and Bhopal districts.

The prisoners will be able to live with their families. The government will not only provide employment to the prisoners but to their relatives as well.
