73,000 evacuated due to Venezuela rains

CARACAS - Over 73,000 people have been evacuated from 11 Venezuelan states due to heavy rains that has led to the death of at least 32 people in the past few days, a cabinet minister has said.

The 73,000 people are now being housed in 541 facilities, Defence Minister Carlos Mata said Saturday, according to Prensa Latina.

The rains have destroyed thousands of homes and caused severe damage to infrastructure, Mata said, adding that those evacuated are receiving proper attention that includes food and medical care.
