BEIJING - A prostitution gang which trafficked women from China to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has been busted and 15 Chinese women have been rescued, China’s ministry of public security said Thursday.

Three Chinese suspects surnamed Zhuang, Yao and Li smuggled a number of women from China’s southwest Sichuan province to Kinshasa, the capital of the DRC, and forced them into prostitution at local clubs, Xinhua reported citing a ministry statement.

Chinese officials with the assistance from DRC authorities detained Zhuang and Yao in the DRC Nov 26 and brought the 15 women back to China Thursday, it said.

Li was, however, on the run.
