LUCKNOW - Seven Uttar Pradesh policemen were suspended for partying with four criminals and their associates at a hotel here, police said Friday.
The policemen had brought the criminals from Gorakhpur to Lucknow for a hearing in the Allahabad High Court bench here Wednesday in connection with a booth capturing case. The policemen reached here Tuesday and instead of handing over the criminals to Lucknow police, they went to a hotel.
A team of Lucknow police caught the policemen enjoying food that was arranged by criminals and their associates in the hotel late Tuesday.
“Acting on the complaint of Lucknow police, the seven policemen were suspended Thursday night for their negligence,” Deputy Inspector General of Police Aseem Arun told reporters in Gorakhpur, some 300 km from here.
