AGARTALA - Cyber crime was rising across the world, and India is equipping itself to tackle the menace, an official said here Wednesday.

“Cyber space has been engulfing all aspects of our lives. A new civilisation is emerging and cyber security is a new area for all of us,” Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) additional director Amit Chaudhuri said at a seminar here.

C-DAC, under the union ministry of communications and information technology, has undertaken multi-pronged steps to check cyber crime, he said.

“We are importing advanced tools from developed countries, preparing effective training course module for the law enforcing agencies and stakeholders and have launched a nationwide awareness campaign,” Chaudhuri said.

C-DAC has ten centres across the country.
