Bride robbed of gold ornaments

GHAZIABAD - A bride was robbed of gold ornaments and cash worth over Rs.2.80 lakh while she was going to her new home with the groom in Ramprastha Colony of Ghaziabad early Monday.

Yogesh Lamba and Shalini were headed to the groom’s house in a car from the wedding venue when two young men riding a bike intercepted them, said the victim’s family.

The men whipped out a pistol and ordered Shalini to remove her jewellery. Frightened, she gave away whatever had been gifted to her at her wedding a night earlier.

The robbers also took away Rs.16,000 cash from the couple and escaped.

When the incident took place, the road was isolated, a relative of the family said.
