Mexico City, Nov 18 (IANS/EFE) Ten people were killed and several wounded in separate incidents in the western Mexican state of Jalisco, officials said.
Five gunmen died early Wednesday in a battle with police on a highway, the state’s public safety office said. One person was injured in the shootout while four people were arrested after the clash.
None of the dead has been officially identified, but authorities said they were apparently working for the Los Zetas drug cartel.
Separately, police found two women buried in a clandestine grave near the town of Chapala. Authorities suspect the bodies are those of two women kidnapped Sep 28 in Zapopan city of Jalisco.
In a separate incident, three people were killed and two wounded Tuesday night when four armed intruders opened fire inside a law office in Zapopan.
The assailants started shooting after the people inside the office refused a demand to handover their car keys, according to police.
