AHMEDABAD - A man was arrested by Rajasthan Police Wednesday from Gujarat’s Godhra town in connection with the 2007 Ajmer blast, which killed three people and injured 30, a police source said.

The anti-terrorist squad (ATS) of Rajasthan Police picked up Ramesh Vasani Wednesday night, the source said, adding that he was being taken to Jaipur.

Vasani’s arrest comes close on the heels of police in Jaipur announcing the arrest of another accused, Harshad Solanki, who hails from Gujarat’s Vadodara. He was arrested Nov 1 in Jaipur.

A charge-sheet filed by the ATS in Ajmer earlier included four names who had also figured in the 2002 Best Bakery riot case in Vadodara during the post-Godhra communal riots in the state. Solanki is one of them.

The ATS earlier arrested three people in connection with the blast at Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti’s dargah in Ajmer.

The charge sheet alleged that supporters of radical Hindu group Abhinav Bharat carried out the blast Oct 11, 2007.

The ATS charged Devendra Gupta, Lokesh Sharma, Chander Shekhar Lave, Sandeep Dange and Ramji Kalsangre with murder, attempt to murder, conspiracy, harming or defiling a place of worship and other crimes.
