TEGUCIGALPA - At least 14 people were killed when a group of gunmen opened fire during a football match in Honduras, Xinhua reported Sunday.
The attackers, armed with assault rifles, drove into the football field Saturday in the northern Honduran city of San Pedro Sula and opened fire, authorities said.
Ten people were killed on the spot and four died on the way to a hospital, said deputy security minister Armando Calidonio.
Many others were injured during the shooting spree and some of them were in critical condition, Calidonio said.
Honduras is plagued by gang violence and organised crime. Last month, a group of gunmen shot dead over 15 people in a small shoe factory in San Pedro Sula.
