JAMMU - Jammu police Sunday rescued and handed over to their parents 28 children, who were confined to a room by a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which brought them to Jammu for providing education.

According to police, the children from Leh were brought by NGO Youth Movement for Peace ostensibly to get them admitted to the prestigious schools in Jammu. But Ladakh Buddhist Association came to know that the children were kept in a dingy room.

The police, on the complaints of the parents and the LBA, registered cases against five members of the NGO and arrested them on charges of kidnapping and keeping the children in illegal confinement.
