BUENOS AIRES - Twelve people had a miraculous escape when their plane crashed shortly after takeoff and caught fire in Argentina Sunday, police said.
The accident occurred around midday (1500 GMT) Sunday, when the Russia-made Antonov AN-2 plane, with 10 passengers and two crew members onboard, took off from an airport in Santa Isabel, 920 km southwest of Buenos Aires, but crashed soon after in the nearby woods in La Pampa province.
La Pampa police public relations director Andrea Mascelli said all those on the plane suffered only minor injuries.
The plane lost one its wings in the crash and burst into flames, Xinhua reported.
The passengers managed to evacuate the plane by themselves and only one of them was taken to the hospital with a broken leg, police said.
