BHUBANESWAR - Routine rituals at the Jagannath temple at Puri in Orissa were affected for about an hour Tuesday after a clash between two groups of priests left one injured, an official said.
The priests clashed inside the sanctum sanctorum over the collections from the devotees.
“A priest was hurt. We have registered a case and are taking necessary action,” Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar told IANS.
The routine rituals were affected after a drop of blood of the injured was found on the floor, temple public relation officer Laxmidhar Pujapanda said.
The rituals resumed after the floor was cleaned and a Maha Snan (a purification ritual) of the deities was performed, he said.
The temple town of Puri is 56 km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
