JAKARTA - At least 25 people were killed and 30 others seriously wounded early Saturday when two trains collided in Indonesia’s central Java province, Xinhua reported.
Rescuers were working to evacuate those still trapped in the coaches, said Rindang Krisnoputro, official with the provincial search and rescue office.
“The number of victims may increase as there are still dozens of people trapped,” he added.
The injured were rushed to two nearby hospitals. “Their condition is very horrible, most of them suffering from broken bones or serious injuries,” said Krisnoputro.
The Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with Bisnis Senja after midnight Saturday in Petarukan Pemalang district, he said.
