Jamia student beaten to death

NEW DELHI - A student of Jamia Millia Islamia university here was Tuesday beaten to death by unidentified assailants outside the campus, police said.

Shahrukh, a second year students of Bachelor of Fine Arts, was attacked around 3 p.m.

“The victim was called outside the campus by unidentified people and he is said to have been beaten mercilessly by them,” a police official said.

The 18-year-old, whose father is a yoga teacher in the university, was first taken to a nearby clinic for first aid treatment. He was later shifted to Holy Family Hospital where he was declared dead.

“We have not ruled out any possibilities. Investigations are in progress,” the official said.
