Authorities ID man who opened fire at Neb. plant

CRETE, Neb. — Officials have identified the man who shot and wounded three co-workers at a cold-storage facility in Nebraska before killing himself.

Saline County Attorney Tad Eickman said Thursday that the gunman at the plant near Crete was 26-year-old Akouch Kashoual of Lincoln. Eickman said Kashoual entered the lunchroom at the Americold Logistics plant around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday and began firing a handgun.

Eickman didn’t give any information about Kashoual’s motive. Eickman says Kashoual shot Elizabeth Canas, Renee Villareal and Paul Rivera before going outside to shoot himself in the head.

The three wounded people live in Crete and work at the plant. Eickman didn’t have their ages. He says they are being treated at area hospitals.
