Sharjah, Sep 22 (IANS/WAM) Authorities in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have seized around 37,000 fake electrical goods bearing international brand names.
The Sharjah Economic Development Department seized the goods during an operation launched as part of its ongoing programme to fight commercial fraud in the Emirates.
An official of the department’s legal affairs section said it was able to seize all counterfeit goods before they could be circulated in the region. The department was also able to identify the gang which was receiving these items and then selling them to shops inside and outside the Emirates.
The fake goods would be destroyed after ensuring that those are indeed counterfeit.
The department asked consumers and traders to be aware when dealing with such electrical appliances and products.
