NEW DELHI - A group of cargo loaders at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, accused of stealing cargo worth Rs.150,000, were arrested Monday, police said. A stolen consignment of 106 Chinese mobile phones was found from them.

Acting on a complaint filed by Wynn Telecom Limited assistant manager Shashiranjanam Sep 17, the police started investigations and verification of cargo loaders.

After watching closed circuit television (CCTV) footage of the area, the IGI police zeroed in on two people — Pramod Kumar Jha and Mohan Singh — who were working as cargo loaders for Shakti Cargo and Logistics.

“They were working for Shakti Cargo for the last 25 days. We are also probing the involvement of various agencies deployed at the gate and cargo complex,” a senior police official told IANS.

After raids at several locations, both were arrested. They broke down during sustained interrogation, and disclosed that they managed to steal a polybag containing 106 Chinese mobile phones from the cargo area.

They loaded the stolen goods into a van and gave four mobile phones to their associate Vinod Kumar.

All the three have been arrested and further investigation is on, police said.
