Armed man shot dead on subway train in US

WASHINGTON - Police Saturday shot and killed an armed man on the subway train in South Chicago, Xinhua said, citing a local media report.

The local police responded to a call that a man with a gun was on the train in the morning and two policemen managed to approach him, the report said.

But the man began to fight with the officers and pointed a gun at them, which prompted both officers to discharge their weapons and shot him, police said.

The man was then taken to a hospital and was pronounced dead there.
