Train hits car, drags it for a kilometre

GHAZIABAD - A car was hit by a train and dragged for a kilometre in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district early Wednesday, police said. There were no casualties as the car owner had abandoned it on the tracks and left the spot.
The car owner, suspected to be under the influence of liquor, left his Honda City car in the middle of the railway tracks near Anand Vihar railway station adjoining Brij Vihar residential colony of Ghaziabad after it got stuck. He then went to get some help, police said.
In the meantime, the car was hit by the Kalka Mail and dragged for a kilometre. The incident happened around 2 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
The car owner, Anadi Mishra, general manager of Parswanath Developers, was arrested when he returned to the spot soon after the collision.
“We have arrested the man who destroyed railway property,” a railway police officer told IANS.
