Five of family killed as house collapses

GHAZIABAD - Five members of a family, including three children, were killed when their house collapsed in Ghaziabad district Tuesday morning, police said.

The entire family of ten was inside the double-storied house in Kurana village of Hapur sub-division when it collapsed.

Two women Ashinuma, 65, and Sarmati, 55, and three children Samira, 5, Fatima, 3, and Sanoor, 3, were buried alive under the debris and could only be found after police and local residents removed the rubble. They were taken to hospital where doctors declared them dead.

The other five family members - identified as Noor Mohammad, Tahir, Sajid, Asim and Samir - were admitted to the government hospital with critical injuries. Doctors have now declared their condition to be stable.
