JOHANNESBURG — South African emergency officials say 31 people were injured when a passenger train crashed into a stationary goods train east of Johannesburg.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokeswoman Natasha du Preez said Friday that ambulances transported the injured passengers to different hospitals around the economic hub of Johannesburg. Du Preez says no deaths or serious injuries were reported in the crash.

The official says the other 26 passengers were waiting to be transported by another train to their various destinations.
