NTSB: Flight controls on small plane that crashed in San Francisco Bay were in right position

NTSB investigates San Francisco Bay plane crash

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Authorities say flight controls on a small plane that crashed in a lagoon off San Francisco Bay, killing three people on board, were in the correct position.

The National Transportation Safety Board released that finding on Saturday as part of the initial investigation into Thursday’s crash.

The twin-engine Beechcraft Queen Air plummeted into the lagoon around noon after taking off from nearby San Carlos Airport.

Divers recovered the body of a 40-year-old woman outside the plane shortly after the crash.

Two more bodies inside the plane were not recovered until the wreckage was lifted from the lagoon on Friday.

NTSB investigator Michael Huhn said it’s not yet clear who was piloting the plane when it crashed because the plane has dual controls.
