Quetta Blast Kills 43

QUETTA, PAKISTAN (GaeaTimes.com)- The city of Quetta was shaken from beneath today morning when the suicide bombing rocked the whole country. The eye witnesses report that the blast in the Southwestern city of Quetta killed at least 43 people and wounded around 100 people. The accident occurred during Al Quds day rally.

The police says that the suicide attack in Quetta targeting a Shiite Muslim rally had created a turmoil at the heart of the city. The bomb however, appeared to target a rally of 450 people. Akbar Magsi, a senior police officer in Quetta said that more that 43 dead bodies have been moved to different hospitals and more than 100 people are injured. A local television channel reported that it driver, who was covering the annual event had been killed in the blast and other media sources also reported that their reporters, cameramen were severely injured in the incident. Shiite leader Allama Abbas Kumaili has urged the participants to remain peaceful in this crisis situation. In his statement he said that these are attempts to bring Sunni and Shiite together.

The media reports that the gory attack in Quetta is the second attack on Pakistani Shiites this week who are regarded as the minorities in the country. Last Wednesday a suicide attack claimed 35 lives at a Shiite ceremony in the Eastern city of Lahore. However, the pictures reveal that smoke spreading in to the air on a chaotic street people fleeing and others lying prone next to motorcycles, taking cover from gunfire. Law enforcement agencies cordon off the area while rescue teams have started shifting the injured to nearby hospitals. The Police is presently investigating about the whole incident though so far no group has claimed responsibility of the incident.
