Five held for fraud in Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH - Five people were arrested here Wednesday for attempting to fraudulently sell a house owned by a Britain-based NRI to a property dealer, police said.
According to the police, the accused had struck a deal for the house in Sector 15 here for Rs.10 crore with Ramanpreet Singh, the complainant.
“We have arrested five people in this case. They had prepared fake property documents of a house, which is originally owned by Britain-based NRI Labh Singh. They had even taken Rs.10 lakh from Ramanpreet yesterday (Tuesday) but sensing something fishy, he approached us,” a police official said.
“We have booked the accused under various sections of the Indian penal code and they are being interrogated,” he added.
The accused were identified as Jasbir Singh, Satpal Singh, Jarnail Singh, Gian Singh and Sham Lal.
