PANAJI - Goa’s only medical college has instituted a three-member committee to probe a ragging incident in its hostel last week, in which nine students were evicted from the hostel and criminal complaints were filed against them, the dean said Monday.
Goa Medical College Dean V.N. Jindal said that the specially appointed committee would conduct a thorough investigation and report back to the statutory anti-ragging committee.
“We will have a committee of three senior professors who will probe the incident and report back to the anti-ragging committee,” Jindal told reporters Monday.
Nine senior students were evicted from the Medical College hostel last Wednesday after they made seven freshers kneel down and salute them as part of a mock introduction sequence.
The nine students were evicted the following day and a criminal complaint was filed against them.
