Seven of family injured in acid attack

MUZAFFARNAGAR - Seven members of a family in this Uttar Pradesh district sustained multiple burn injuries after their neighbour threw acid on them Monday following a land dispute, police said.

“Shahzad first attacked Ramzani, 48 and his wife inside their residence in Meerpur area and later threw acid on the other family members, who came to the rescue of the couple,” police inspector Sushil Kumar told reporters in Muzaffarnagar, some 350 km from Lucknow.

Shahzad was later arrested in the day.

“All of the seven family members have received multiple burn injuries. Initially, all the seven were hospitalised in Muzaffarnagar, but Ramzani was later referred to a hospital in Meerut district when his condition deteriorated,” the police officer said.
