NEW DELHI - A 14-year-old boy was crushed to death Monday by a Delhi Jal Board water tanker in south Delhi’s Saket area.

The victim was identified as Asgar Ali, a student of Class 6 in a government school in Saket.

The incident took place when area residents, suffering due to water shortages, rushed towards the tanker that had come to the area to supply water.

“As soon as the tanker came in the locality, the locals rushed with the buckets and drums toward the tanker to collect water and Ali was one of them who climbed the tanker,” police said.

According to police, the driver of the tanker in order to avoid the rush started the tanker to park it at another place. “As soon as he started the tanker, Asgar fell from the top of the tanker and came under its wheels near Indira Camp locality in Saket,” police said.
