BHUBANESWAR - Six Myanmarese fishermen were detained Saturday in Orissa’s Jagatsinghpur district for suspected immigration offences, police said.
The men were found moving suspiciously in the fishing harbour of the port town of Paradip, 119 km from here.
Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) troopers nabbed them and brought them before the immigration officials.
The immigration officials handed over them to the marine police after the accused failed to produce their passports, visas and other immigration related documents.
“We have detained them for questioning. We are investigating to ascertain their identity,” a police officer said.
