NEW DELHI - The Supreme Court Thursday gave three more months to the Central Bureau of Investigation to complete probe into the 2005 Sohrabuddin Sheikh killing by Gujarat Police, including the conspiracy behind it.
An apex court bench of Justice Aftab Alam and Justice R.M. Lodha ordered the extension of time after rejecting objections raised by senior counsel Ram Jethmalani, who appeared for Gujarat’s former home minister Amit Shah.
Shah was arrested and has been lodged in a jail in Gujarat for his alleged involvement in the larger conspiracy behind Sheikh’s killing in a staged shootout.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has been accused of killing Sheikh in a staged shootout Nov 26, 2005, in Ahmedabad. His wife Kauserbi is suspected to have been killed at a farm two days later.
