NEW DELHI - A reward of Rs.50,000 was announced Wednesday by Delhi Police for a 36-year-old woman who helped nab two men who tried to rob her house in east Delhi.
Police Commissioner Y.S. Dadwal announced the reward for Meenakshi, who helped police to catch the robbers Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Rinku Kumar (24) and Lokesh (19), who attempted to rob her house in Vishwas Nagar at around 2 p.m.
“While Rinku was trying to choke Meenakshi, a country-made pistol dropped from his hand. Meenakshi then raised an alarm following which the locals came rushing,” a senior police official said.
The neighbours overpowered them and handed them over to police who, registered a case of attempt to robbery against them.
“Meenakshi showed exemplary courage so the commissioner decided to reward her,” the official added.
