Probe ordered into prisoner’s death

RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh Tuesday ordered a magisterial probe into the death of a prisoner at a government medical college hospital here last month, a statement said.

Jaishree Jain, a sub-divisional magistrate, has been appointed to probe the death of a 48-year-old prisoner, Sheetal Manjhi, a resident of Kunkuri area of Jashpur district, according to a government statement.

The prisoner had died July 28 under mysterious circumstances here at the state’s biggest hospital, Dr.Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Medical College and Hospital.

The probe will focus on the circumstances in which the prisoner died and who were responsible for death.
