1 killed, 30 wounded in Italy train derailment
NAPLES, Italy — A train has derailed and crashed in southern Italy, killing one passenger and leaving about 30 injured.
The four-carriage train derailed Friday on the outskirts of Naples, its destination. Rescue officials in Naples said some of the about 30 people injured were in serious condition.
The train belongs to the Circumvesuviana, a regional service that connects Naples with small towns, including on the Amalfi coast. Some 35 people were aboard the train, according to Italian news reports.
The cause of the accident was being investigated, but officials said early reports and witnesses suggested the train was going too fast.
