KABUL - Bodies of 16 people, including some foreigners, were found in northeast Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province Friday, an official said.

Local authorities Friday found the bodies in Kuran Wa Munjan district of the province, deputy provincial governor Shamsull Rahman Shams told Xinhua.

The 16 people visited the neighbouring Nuristan province and then went back to Badakhshan province, said Shams, adding that they did inform local government of their trip.

It is not clear why the foreigners were killed in the remote Afghan province.
