HOSHIARPUR - The Punjab Police Thursday evening claimed to have busted a sex racket here that also involved a school-going teenaged girl.
Police arrested six sex workers, one of whom was a teenager, a woman pimp and three others who were acting as middlemen in this illegal business.
The teenager was a Class 10 student of a government school here.
“Working on a secret tip-off, we laid a trap and arrested 10 people who were involved in the sex racket for the last many months. Their interrogation is on and we hope to make more arrests in the coming days,” Sukhwinder Singh, the investigation officer of the case, told IANS.
Talking about the girl, Singh said: “It is very shocking. She had left her home for school but did not go there. At the time of arrest, she was in school uniform. We are taking this matter very seriously and trying to find out her reasons for getting involved in this and how long she has been into it.”
Hoshiarpur town is around 120 km from state capital Chandigarh.
