MELBOURNE - Australian police are hunting for a man of “Indian appearance” for sexually assaulting a teenager in this city almost a year ago.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said they had released pictures of a man who could be responsible for the sexual assault of a teenage girl as she walked along a street in Melbourne last September.
Police describe the man as being of Indian appearance, between 20 and 30 years old and with dark hair, The Age reported Wednesday.
When the assault occurred, the man was wearing a brown and yellow jacket, short-sleeved collared shirt, jeans and white runners, the police said.
The teenager was walking along Freeman Street in Fitzroy North when she was approached from behind by a man and sexually assaulted, they said.
Sexual crimes squad detectives said the attack occurred about 5 p.m. They believe the attacker may have travelled on a train between Heidelberg and Clifton Hill before the assault.
