Fire chief: At least 4 teens drown in La. river
SHREVEPORT, La. — A fire chief says at least four teenagers have drowned in a Louisiana river.
Shreveport Fire Chief Brian Crawford says the drownings happened in the Red River at Shreveport in the northwest corner of the state.
Mayor Cedric Glover and Caddo Schools Superintendent Dr. Gerald Dawkins were on the scene with rescue crews late Monday as were area ministers.
KSLA-TV reports that a 15-year-old survived and crews were searching for more bodies.
The station reports that the victims ranged from 13 to 18 years old and four bodies have been recovered.
