GHAZIABAD - A 74-year-old American woman was Wednesday found dead in the Ghaziabad house of a 25-year-old man, who claimed to be her friend since 2007, police said.
The victim, Arma Graham, was found dead in the morning by Ranjeet Sharma at his house in Govindpuram area of Ghaziabad, said Superintendent of Police (City) Avdesh Kumar Vijeta.
Arma had come to Ranjeet’s house some days back. On Tuesday night, she complained about pain in her chest after which she took medicine from a local doctor, Ranjeet told police.
On Wednesday morning, when Ranjeet went up to her room, Arma did not respond to his calls. She was taken to hospital where she was declared brought dead.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem and have informed the American Embassy,” Vijeta said.
Ranjeet, who works at a BPO firm in Noida, came in contact with Arma in 2007 and both were apparently in touch over telephone, police said.
Ranjeet invited her to his house in India and Arma visited the country first in 2007.
She came again in 2008 with her husband William Graham, who passed away subsequently.
But according to Ranjeet, Arma came to India in 2009 and 2010 too.
Arma has two sons - Raun Graham and Don Graham - both working in the US, Ranjeet told police.
