Medical student arrested for mowing down four in Delhi

NEW DELHI - A 25-year-old medical student who allegedly mowed down four workers under his Honda City car in south Delhi early Monday was arrested from Delhi airport while trying to flee the country, police said Tuesday.

Shahid Khan, who is pursuing MBBS from Ukraine, was arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport while he was about to take a flight out of the country.

Four labourers were killed and four sustained serious injuries when the Honda City, driven by Khan, ran over them near the Safdarjung flyover early Monday. The men were working with the Public Works Department (PWD) on a road improvement project.

According to police, Shahid, who hails from Alwar in Rajasthan, was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol. He fled after the accident.

Khan, along with his two friends Shahzad (18) and Alam Khan (23), was returning from a party in Mehrauli when the accident took place.
