2 Va. firefighters die in accident on way to fire
ROCKY MOUNT, Va. — Two firefighters in Virginia have died after their fire truck collided with other vehicles on its way to a house fire.
Mayor Steve Angle of Rocky Mount, about 25 miles south of Roanoke, says the Monday afternoon crash is a devastating blow to the city.
State police say the fire truck hit an SUV and rolled several times before landing atop a car. The mayor says the firefighters were the truck’s only two occupants.
At least one injured crash victim was taken to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.
