Bomb at Bangkok bus stop wounds 9
BANGKOK — Police in Thailand’s capital say at least nine people have been wounded by a bomb explosion at a bus stop in downtown Bangkok.
Police Maj. Gen. Anuchai Lekbamroong, at the site of the explosion Sunday, declined to speculate whether the bombing was related to Thailand’s political turbulence in the wake of mass protests earlier this year.
The bomb exploded shortly after voting ended in a parliamentary by-election which pitted a government candidate against a jailed leader of the Red Shirt movement that staged the protests, which were broken up by the army in mid-May.
