Brush fires threaten structures north of LA
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. — Two brush fires have threatened homes north of Los Angeles and disrupted traffic on heavily traveled Interstate 5.
The fires Friday are near the city of Santa Clarita and to the northeast near ranch properties in the Acton area.
Los Angeles County fire Capt. Sam Padilla says the 15-acre Santa Clarita fire threatened about 30 homes, but no active flames are now showing. Some 200 firefighters and a half-dozen firefighters worked the blaze.
The Acton area fire is burning in hilly, desert-like terrain where homes are sparse.
