Teen’s autopsy inconclusive in NY fire probe
NEW YORK — An autopsy has failed to reveal the cause of death for a teenager suspected of killing his mother and siblings and setting the family’s Staten Island home on fire.
City medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Ellen Borakove says autopsies were conducted Friday on four of the five people who died.
She says the examination was inconclusive as to the cause of death for 14-year-old suspect and his mother.
It confirmed that two young girls found with slit throats died of neck wounds.
The bodies of Leisa Jones and three of her children were found in their torched apartment early Thursday. Her 2-year-old son was pulled out alive but died later at the hospital.
An earlier autopsy confirmed that the toddler died of smoke inhalation and burns.
