Six pilgrims killed in Maharashtra

SOLAPUR - Six pilgrims were crushed to death in Maharashtra’s Solapur district Wednesday when they were on their way to the famous Pandharpur temple, police here said.

Twelve people were travelling in a large autorickshaw when they met with the accident at Shetfal village, about 30 km from Pandharpur town in Solapur.

“Their autorickshaw got caught between the two trucks coming from the opposite direction. Six passengers were killed,” a police official said.

Those killed have been identified as Bhagwat Bangale, 26, Bhagwant Hande, 60, Anita Avtar, 35, Shivdar Intewad, 25, Narayan Kharat, 60, and Vishnu Kharat, 35.
